Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Scheduled day off. After 4 weeks ~40 mpw, this is a good week to back off a little and give my body a chance to "catch up". I've made a lot of progress in the last month, but the mileage is still a challenge for my right leg/groin. So, I'm planning to take Mon-Fri super easy and focus on isolated right leg/hip strengthening and other PT exercises. Hopefully, this will set me up stronger and healthier in the following weeks. Long term goals > short term miles.

Interesting ....

We both covered a 40+ mile week last week, and both did 10 milers this weekend.

And I am feeling a little twinge in the left groin/upper leg...

Thinking an easy week is a good plan to keep things progressing in a healthy way.

You're in the same boat as Andrea, Bret. 4-5 weeks of building up to 40 miles... so taking a down week of 20-25 will probably allow you to make the next jump up from there.

Very smart approach Andrea. Yay for another double digit run yesterday! :)

What is your comeback plan? I know a lot of it just depends on how you feel...but the big picture plan!

Comeback plan:

By the end of the year: feel 100% again - ready to start training again. Keep mileage around 40 mpw but be able to handle more. Sub-18 5K

Winter/Spring 2014: Increase mileage to 50 mpw with additional XT. Try to race a half marathon by Mar 2014

Summer 2014: Focus on speedwork 5Ks and 10Ks. Goal half marathons in June and September.

Fall 2014: Run a marathon in Nov/Dec 2014 and go for the olympic trials qualifying time.

It's pretty aggressive but I'm really hoping that I will feel ready to train hard in two more months!
