Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Anyone interested in some mile repeats (5:50-5:55 pace) at Liberty Park tomorrow morning?

I wrote a blog post about my frustration with injuries the past few months and finally feeling good running again - On the Upswing.

no work fridays are the best.

great post. i agree with all your points, especially with taking post-marathon recovery time seriously. i like the idea of taking extended trips to brazil...

Great blog post. I'm almost certain that my hamstring tightness is linked to my chronically tight calves. I need to look more into the trigger point website you posted.

Last summer I read this book on back pain:

http://www.amazon.com/Foundation-Redefine-Your-Conquer-Confidence/dp/1609611004

I wonder if it would help you. Some of the branches of the Salt Lake County Library have a copy if you wanted to look into it.

Agreed as well! Especially for super fast elite women. You women work so hard and push your bodies beyond what most are capable of (not that the rest of us do not push, I am not sayin' that!) Recovery has to take on double importance. I am also sure their is some correlation to the lack of body fat. ;o)

No snow stuck out here at all, guess we lucked out!

Thanks for the suggestion Tina - I'll look into that book.

Well at least I don't have to worry about recovering from a marathon this year! :)

You said that last year too!

Love your blog post! You offer such a wealth of knowledge, experience and great stuff to this sport! Thank you! Happy to hear you are feeling good and ready to train again! Hope the back gets feeling good soon! Happy Good Friday to you!

I could yell at you to run faster while sitting on my arse eating donuts tomorrow morning if that would help!

I enjoyed the injury post, but I am curious to how you handled the mental side of things :)

From josse on Fri, Apr 06, 2012 at 17:58:55 from 166.250.16.114

I just saw your PM and responded, sorry.

From Jake K on Fri, Apr 06, 2012 at 18:00:51 from 67.177.21.60

oh she was cool and composed 110% of the time. No mood swings at all. :-)

honestly though - she handled it 10000 times better than I ever could have

From Andrea on Fri, Apr 06, 2012 at 18:24:06 from 67.177.21.60

I would say, out of 120 days I had about 30 breakdowns...so one breakdown every 4 days :). Because it was winter, the injury was a little easier to handle but I especially hated missing out on group runs and being in a stinky gym.
