Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

I had a dream about the marathon last night. We started the race and after 30 minutes of running, they let all the elite athletes take a 5 minute break. Then we started running again, and I was feeling pretty good and relaxed. We got a 20 minute break once we hit the halfway point and I came in at 1:23:34 (goal was 1:23). I told the two other girls that we would have to pick it up in the second half to get the qualifying time. As we were resting, I started getting really anxious and nervous that the people in charge never stopped the clock and all this time was going against us! We were running again, and I remember thinking that the stop-and-go might actually be harder than just to keep running. Then I woke up. Dreams are so weird. So moral of the story - as much as I may want to stop, it's probably not in my best interest :)

I have had really similar dreams to that one!

We are thinking about you guys. Best of luck.

Jeff Galloway once had this same dream, and he created a whole training philosophy based on it and wrote a dozen books!

ah, the pre-marathon dreams...

that's a great list of positive thoughts to draw from in the final miles. all the way, andrea!

I LOVE your list!! You are going to do so well, you've trained so hard and you are so talented!! Something I always tell myself the last few miles is "finish strong", anyone can start strong, but it's finishing strong that counts!! Also just keep telling yourself you feel great and that you've got this, cause you do!

Love that dream! Now I want to be an elite and get a good 10-20 min break in a marathon :)

Good luck, sounds like everything is right on schedule and planned well!!

I'll be thinking of you guys as I'm sitting in the North woods waiting for a monster buck to come by my tee stand. I can't wait to see the results!! I've really enjoyed following you and Jake along your journey and I'm praying the both of you OTQ!! Not that you need prayers, but they never hurt!

That is one crazy dream. Almost as crazy as the running dreams I have. Haha.

I just posted on Jake's blog about how you two have inspired me. Thanks for always being so positive.

Good luck at your first marathon. I know you'll do awesome!!!

I thought I would see ice cream and money in the list. But looks like you hit on everything else. Have a great race!

I guess in your mind you want to stop so hence the dream of stopping, so my advice DON'T. In fact, not that I want to bring this sad fact back into play--- all the times I stopped and walked and stopped and took off my shoes and socks for that matter (at the SGM) and talking to the water girl seems like a nightmare to me. do you know that if I just had kept running I would have been about five minutes faster? seriously funny. my split times were really not slow to a "regular" runner -- slowest mile walking and crying 8:27. I was running faster in between than my body thought it was due to the end of marathon fatigue. BASICALLY-- don't let your fatigued body tell you you are running slow. It plays tricks on you. IT FEELS harder because it is but you PROBABLY aren't running slower so DON'T let YOUR mind tell you to stop because "it hurts too much". Pull through it because either way, fast or slow, IT WILL HURT to reach that goal. BUT it WILL HURT more NOT to reach that goal. TRUST ME. GOOD LUCK ANDREA. YOU HAVE IT IN YOU!! and if you find a minute in the race that you are struggling FOCUS HARD. DO NOT LOSE FOCUS.
