Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - JAJAF Run this morning! Breezy but nice temperatures and a enjoyable, casual run to keep Allie fresh for her race. I'm on a streak of days running with little foot pain and shorter distance seems to be the key. I will gladly take 5-6 miles a day for a while until I'm feeling 100%. Afterward did yoga for 30 min and might have pushed a couple of the back stretches a little too hard today.

PM - 50 min on the recumbent bike and 10 min on the elliptical.

Interesting study on the Efficiency of Barefoot vs. Running Shoes

Yay running! You are so on the up and up. Keep up the yoga, but be careful since yoga can kill!

Wow that is interesting! I am NEVER doing yoga now! WAYYY too dangerous. Andrea is going to be so mad at you for posting that link - she almost got me to try it a few days ago... now I can use that extra time doing more intervals on the track, I'll get faster and NOT DIE.

Very interesting article(s), thanks for sharing! I'll be wearing my shoes while quickly running away from any yoga studios I happen to see.

Jake - what I was having you do is called stretching. You should try it more often.

Lulu - very interesting. I'm doing Rodney Yee's AM yoga...not too yoga-y and it seems to be mostly stretches that I should be doing after I workout anyway. Just can't feel bad about barely touching my ankles when he's got his elbows on the ground!

Glad the pain is subsiding, you've been really smart with your injuries. Good article too - Go Shoes!

Jake - good call - the sane decision is actually to just keep running 150-mile weeks.

My mom has a huge crush on Rodney Yee. She watches the videos without actually doing the yoga sometimes.

There is this yoga class I love that is in your neighborhood. I go to this slightly mellow super stretchy class on Wednesday nights if you ever want to check it out. First class is free!

Jake - Yoga doesn't always kill so you should give it a try with Andrea!!!

So glad to hear you are feeling better Andrea.

There was a guy at Ragnar running barefoot in the desert on dirt trails....with rocks.....in 80+ degree heat....it looked incredibly painful!

Haha good thing it isn't rattlesnake season yet. I really dont believe people running on rocky trails w/ no shoes actually enjoy what they are doing.

I tried Yoga with my 4 year old. He was way to bendy and flexible and I got hurt when I tried to put both legs behind my head, so I quit.

yay for the running streak! thanks for the run this morning -- company is always nice, but it's extra excellent during taper week. i can't wait to add in the daily dose of ice cream to my training.

as for yoga -- i took a yoga class in college from a woman named emerald green. it doesn't get much better than that. and i didn't die...

The first time I tried yoga was at Bikram, it wasn't the most pleasant experience. I took a regular yoga class at my high school senior year and loved it, I took it with some team mates right before track practice and those were always the best days of running I felt.
