Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - JAJA Run! 10.2 miles - the run was hillier than I remembered last time, must be tired from all the training.

PM - 2 Mile Tempo in 12:15, 2x200 in :45.

Definitely running on tired legs. The past 7 days I have run over 90 miles! That's a lot. Never thought I would run this much in a week until the last 3 months. Easy day tomorrow, and hopefully I'll be able to hit the Sat. long run hard.

Jake and I were asked to speak at the Utah LDR Circuit Banquet coming up. We agreed but have no idea what to talk about! I'm sure a lot of people on the blog will be there, so do you have any suggestions? Jake is an excellent speaker, by the way. Me - not so much :)

jaja!

that's a cool opportunity -- i will be there and i look forward to hearing from you both. one thing that is impressive to me about both of you is your ability to work so hard and yet always stay at the top of your game. i know you put a lot of focus on recovery, and i think it would be interesting to hear more about that (the importance of it, your strategies, etc.) also, i think your running stories in general and how you got where you are today are very interesting and inspiring. it's amazing how much you have improved and accomplished in just a year!

The secret is...compression sleeves and ice cream.

Ok, I wouldn't talk about the ice cream. I think that you both put in a lot of work, didn't try to take shortcuts, kept it fun, recovered actively. You also made efforts to change some poor nutrition habits that made a big difference. Not everyone is going to run 1:05/1:17, but everyone can follow your example.

What a cool opportunity Andrea. When is it? I would love to come and hear you both speak. I agree with James. I think a lot of the key to your success is that you support each other and make it fun.

Awesome mileage for the week btw. You are on a roll. :)

I think the story of you transforming from a casual runner to an elite athlete would be very inspiring and interesting. Obviously you know the "secrets to success," and throwing a couple of those out to the crowd would be interesting as well. Congratulations!
