Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 5 miles up towards Sugarhouse with Jake and back. Had to bring out the neck gaiter and long socks for the first time today. Hopefully I can put them away before May this year!

PM - Step Aerobics Class. It was fun to do a little something different.

This is a great resource for strengthening the hip-girdle area. Lots of injuries stem from hip weaknesses and imbalances, so I thought I would share. I'm going to try to do this routine a few times a week and hopefully it'll help my piriformis/back isssues when I get back into hard training.

Because I've been obsessing over a puppy for the past 2 weeks, Jake and I spent about an hour trying to think of the perfect name for a dog. #1 is definitely Tempo (mostly because I can say I went for a Tempo run every morning when I run around the block with the pup!).

I really like how Jeff named his dog Moxie, cause he runs with Moxie every morning.

What kind of dog are you going to get? I have a Border Collie but she's only good for about 5 miles before she peters out.

I like Jeff's too!

It's actually unlikely that I will get a dog anytime soon. I live in a condo with no backyard. But fostering a dog will be more likely - may favorites are german shorthairs, weimaraners, vizslas, and goldendoodles :)

If you ever need a dog-sitter, Jake and I would totally jump at the chance!!

Thanks for posting the hip strenghtening link. I was just reading last night about hip strength and injuries. Some docs think weak hips are the cause of most leg/knee issues. I want to add some hip work to my routine. I'll check this out.

I'll keep you guys in mind RE the dog-sitting. :)

well Tempo is much much much better than Fartlek ; D.

From Andrea on Tue, Dec 06, 2011 at 16:28:33 from 72.37.171.52

Well I tend to shorten names, so Fartlek wouldn't work well for me. Not that it's a bad name or anything!!! I think it's cute :) The shortened for Tempo is Temp which just sounds like the mountain, so it's a double win - running and mountain in the same name!

My running friend has a weimaraner named Sky. She ran a 19 miler with us once. She is a great running dog with sweet and peppy personality. She even did strides and fartleks with us! :)

From Rob on Tue, Dec 06, 2011 at 16:38:36 from 204.15.86.95

Weird, why would anyone shorten their actual name to something else. I guess what ever you like Andre.

From allie on Tue, Dec 06, 2011 at 16:47:14 from 161.38.218.168

i used to have a dog named allie. we confused each other all the time.

i like the name gu.

thanks for the hip clip -- it really is an important area to keep strong and balanced. i need to start fire hydranting again.

I just read the link and watched the You-tube! Very helpful and comprehensive. I'm going to include that in my *myrtl* strengthening routine! THANKS for sharing!!!

LOVE the puppy name! PERFECT!

From Kelli on Tue, Dec 06, 2011 at 19:26:02 from 71.219.83.156

BTW, we had a Vizsla for 14 years---they are truthfully THE BEST dog out there. His name was Willie and he like to run amok so he was not very useful in the dunning department.

Tempo is super cool and fitting for you guys!
