Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 4 miles easy. Track workout this afternoon - 5K efforts. Going to try out wearing spikes for the first time in 8 years and hoping that my hamstring will be good to go for Friday's race.

PM - 2 mile warm-up. Still jogging around the track and my hamstring twinged. Ughhhhhhhhhh. So no workout and today was the 10-days-out hard workout before the half marathon :o( It was cold this afternoon...that's the only thing I can thing for the problem before even starting to run fast. Not sure what to do about the 5K on Friday now....I'm afraid I'll completely pull my hamstring. Sad times.

Oh no Andrea I am so sorry! Hopefully it was just the weather. I would definitely play it by ear with the 5k as it seems the Half Marathon is the bigger goal.

You will be fine, be patient with your hammy. I know it is easier said than done, but you will recover just fine.

Sadly I am not in a position to give advice. I hope it gets better soon.

Yikes, hope it quiets down for you. You can probably still run a really great HM by taking it easy from now until then.

Andrea, All I can say is sorry and that I hope it clears up soon. You have come so far and will go much further.
