Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

I thought it might be fun to get a group together for lunch after the SLC race tomorrow...let me know if you are interested!

Comparison of an elite entry at the BAA 5k versus an elite entry at SLC Half Marathon. So if anyone running wants to be elite, just get a sticky note and write "ELITE" on it! :)

Hee hee. I'm going to do that to all of my race bibs! Good luck tomorrow. :)

From Tara on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 09:43:59 from 75.169.147.99

LOLOL! Done. I am pacing my sister tomorrow with a bib. With 8:45 splits, I am writing "Elite" on both of ours. See that's why it pays to be friends with the big dogs. Thanks for the insider tip:)

From Lulu Walls on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 09:49:35 from 155.100.212.98

That's awesome! Just be happy they got the permit :)

From Rachelle on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:02:30 from 199.190.170.22

haha that is hilarious!

I am going to be at liberty park tomorrow (mile 10). I know Jake will be out supporting you along the course but let me know if you want me to have anything ready for you. Gu, gatorate, anything at all.

From allie on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:06:07 from 97.126.212.58

ha! mine looks the same way. james concluded that if they really hand wrote on all of the elite bibs, there are fewer than 5000 elites in the field.

From allie on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:07:15 from 97.126.212.58

also, when the expo woman took it out of the stack she froze up and didn't know what was going on. she handed it to me like it was contaminated. "i don't know what this means..."

From Fritz on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:07:32 from 65.116.116.6

Was the sticky intended to stay on the bib? Mine is in the garbage because the pink would have clashed with my jersey. :) Good luck tomorrow.

From Jake K on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:14:48 from 155.100.226.54

Fritz, I can tattoo the word "elite" on your leg if you want me to... how about something like this -

From Fritz on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:21:48 from 65.116.116.6

That's cool. Triathletes put their numbers on their calves with a black marker and then they make sure not to wash it off for weeks. We will need to come up with something similar for runners. Maybe the forehead.

From Jake K on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 10:24:50 from 155.100.226.54

Please write either FRITZ or ELITE on your forehead for tomorrow

From allie on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 11:19:37 from 97.126.212.58

james wrote a giant "c" and "ya" on his calves at TOU last year.

From Hamdog Alum on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 15:09:50 from 24.240.65.116

I'm going to start doing that all my races.

From Kelli on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 17:11:15 from 71.219.98.16

You guys crack me up! I like how they write their ages on their calves in Tri's. You know who your competition is when you are old like me! and not just trying to win the whole thing---like you guys!

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU TOMORROW!!!! I have a spare bib (non-elite, but I do have pink sticky notes) if anyone wants to run it for fun!

From Dan on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 19:01:14 from 24.209.83.20

That is way too funny!! So putting that on my 11 year old bib for her 5k.

Rock it out tomorrow!

From Hamdog Alum on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 19:22:05 from 24.240.65.116

Good luck Andrea, race hard, and finish strong!

From Carina on Fri, Apr 20, 2012 at 21:20:18 from 204.15.86.83

You'll do awesome!! Can't wait to read about it!!!

From SlowJoe on Sat, Apr 21, 2012 at 12:17:05 from 74.194.104.110

I never knew it was so easy to become elite. And here I've been just wasting my time "training" to get to the next level...

Looking forward to the race report as well!

From RAD on Sun, Apr 22, 2012 at 13:59:24 from 98.202.23.178

Oh how I wish I would've read this Friday! I would've had some good stuff for ya before the race :)

Oh, and Fritz I always wondered about that Tri thing as well (why do they keep it on so long?). They use a sharpie to write it on you and it does NOT come off!! I finally found some eye-makeup remover that will get it off, but other than that nothing takes it off. So, I now have a little more understanding when I see them weeks old :)
