Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 30 minutes of weights/strengthening exercises, then yoga.

PM - Was going to run up at Alta but didn't want to feel out of shape today so opted to run with Devra at Dimple Dell instead. The hills at Dimple Dell are pretty brutal too!

Sweat Science article - Strengthening, Not Stretching, To Deal With IT Band Syndrome. Seems like so many injuries can be avoided with hip strengthening.

It's true! I tore my ACL a couple years ago and the PT I worked with after my surgery said that hip strengthening is one of the beat things you can do for your knees and preventing injury. Thanks for the article.

So true. Hip and ankle strengthening are easy to neglect, but so helpful!

Great article Andrea! I love how proactive you are about dealing with injuries. It is something all of us should probably think more about.

Hips are very important! Glutes too :)

Good article, it just goes to show how important it is to be a total athlete.
