Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 30 minutes of strength training then 20 minutes of yoga.

PM - Well, I think Allie won the run today. Devra was super sore from Alta Peruvian 8K and I am just plain out of shape...hopefully by comparison Allie now feels extra confident about the marathon on Saturday. She is definitely now heat-acclimated for the 40 degree temperatures.

Anyway, my hamstring started feeling irritated after 3 miles...I'm becoming more convinced that the hamstring is associated with my hip pain.

You're going BIG this afternoon! I hope all the MRI-ing cured the hip!

Have fun this afternoon!

It's funny...I actually think the hip is getting better overall. Only in pain half the time now and icing my hamstring every 2 hours is helping a ton. Doesn't really make sense why that seems to help the hip, but I'm going with it!

I think MORE running is helping the hip. I know it sounds insane but the body will find a way to repair itself (assuming no major damage - which the MRIs ruled out) if given a light but regular and gradually increasing training stimulus as long as you give it enough rest / adaptation periods (which is totally variable b/w individuals)
