Today was the Deseret News 10K. When I got to Research Park by the start, I ran about 2 miles with various people from my team and then did strides. The start was very crowded, and we did a countdown from 10 for the start. I got out too fast, because my first mile was under 6 minutes, maybe a PR, I don't know for sure. At mile 2, I got a really bad sideache and started crying. A lady passing by told me the best way to help it was to put my tongue on the roof of my mouth and breath deeply with my nose. It really helped for the next few miles. Going down South Temple was really long, I thought it would never end! At the mile 5 marker, I decided that I was just going to suck it up and push the last mile, but then I got another sideache, this one was a lot worse, as if someone was jabbing needles into my kidney. I started crying again, but when I saw the finish, I widened my stride. I wasn't too happy with my overall time. Sure my goal was to be in the 40-50 minute range, but now that I really think about it, it was SLOW. I also wish I hadn't accidentally put my chip on my trainers, because it would've been better for my legs if I had worn my racers. Ugh today was just a terrible race for me.

Today for a workout we met at Fairmont park for 4 miles. We did 2 big laps as a team around the whole park, which includes around the field, over to the roundabout, around the duck pond, and down by the skate park area. That put us at 2.75. We sat down in a stretching circle and talked about our races yesterday, and Bill gave everyone advice for our different circumstances, what to do in situation A or situation B and so on and so forth. We sat there talking for an hour and a half, then got back up to do 2 more big laps around the park and a lap around the field to be at 4 miles, and getting up was HARD! There was a giant duck quacking at us, and some guy with his bike sleeping under a tree.

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY SUSANNAH!

We met at Sunnyside park for our workout today. We went down to 15th east to the lower entrance to the gulley, advanced group did 2 and a half laps, exiting at the top. We met back at the park and stretched for a bit, then went to one of the soccer fields to do drills. Pocket kicks, high knees, powerskips, B-skips, arms up, and lunges. Then we did a karaoke (it's pronounced charokea, says my daddy. And he is a very wise man.) relay, and we had an all girl team plus Bill, and Bill and Susannah were the sorest people there so that slowed us down but it was really funny haha. After the karaoke relay, we did a duck walk relay. It was the funniest thing ever, we were just rolling around on the grass because it was so funny! We did squats and then went on a cool down to be at 4 miles, then had some GIANT otter pops and sang happy birthday.

HAPPY 18TH BIRTHDAY SUSANNAH! YOU CAN CUT OUT COLORING PAGES NOW!

I hate the JCC. We ran up the first hill, grabbed our rocks, and ran up. I was trying to keep up with Susannah and Natalie for the first mile, but it was really hard and I was breathing heavy and my legs weigh 100 pounds each this week. When I dropped my rocks off at our pile, it was flatter so I was able to go faster. I felt like I was going really fast at that part, but when I checked my garmin I was only going about 10:15 pace. When I got to the hill at 2.5 miles I slowed down a ton and ran out of breath again. When I turned around and was at the top of the hill, I almost tripped and fell down, but I stopped it and my ponytail came around and whipped me in the eye so it looked like I was crying from one eye. I think I have some kind of infection in my right eye because it burns and I can always feel my contact in that eye and I'm positive it's not inside-out. Anyway, back to running. I was booking it down the giant hill, and it was about a 5:40 pace, which made me laugh. I pushed myself all the way to the end, stepping in the stream and getting my feet soaked but oh well. After, we went inside the JCC building to get water, then went over to the grass to do core.

Today at Liberty was a speed workout. We did a full lap around the park on the woodchips for a warmup, then over to the starting line. We did 4 strides on the grass and lined up. We did 4 800s with equal recovery, I got a 2:50, 2:55, 3:01, and 2:56. We finished the lap we were on, got some water, and went for a little over a mile for the rest of our cooldown. Tomorrow is LSD run, long slow distance. I need 15 miles tomorrow if I'm going to make the 10 mile jump this week...

Today we drove all the way out to Magna for our LSD run. Long slow distance. I'm still supposed to hit 5 more miles this week, but I probably won't get my lazy self around to it... Anyway. We met at an abandoned chevron and ran straight along the road. We saw a free cat in the gutter, it was gross. Then we passed by my grandparents old house, or their street, but the memories still came flooding in:) At mile 2 is when we started to spread out a little more from our group. Then we saw a squished raccoon, icky. At the 5 mile mark, I stopped and stretched. I was feeling really sick to the stomach, but I really wanted to be done. There was also an unknown dead creature bigger than the cat or raccoon. At first I thought it was a deer, but I saw it's teeth and it looked more like a fox. I was in pain the whole way and I think I'll start running in my new trainers on Monday because my New Balances are starting to hurt my knees. When I got back, I was so glad to be done! Sarah and I started talking about the fox, she thought it was a coyote, so we decided that it was a foxyote. It was a very painful and very long run.
