Personal:

I'm married to Nan Kennard and she kicks my butt at running.  She has beat me handily in every race we have done together except for a downhill mile we did once.  She is my running inspiration.  I'd like to run a marathon with her someday and actually keep up.

Very nice cruise on the trails in south boulder.  Ran lower bluestem, mesa around the south end and back down north shanahan.  Ran into a lady named Ellory as I got onto Bluestem and ended up running and chatting with her for an hour.  Enjoyable run.  First run in a fresh pair of altras.  My others are still in great shape with 400 + miles on them but I wanted to start rotating in another pair.  I absolutely love altras.  Best running shoe for me ever.

Hey Aaron, Just wanted to let you know how inspiring your blog is. I have been checking in on it the past several days and am amazed at the level of consistency that you have. It has really motivated me to improve and get more consistent.

Thanks Mack. I really enjoy running every day, so I try to be pretty careful about doing too much on any given run so that I can keep running every day without getting injured.

altras look interesting. where do you buy them?

From Scott Ensign on Fri, Sep 30, 2011 at 12:27:31 from 129.123.3.31

and what size do you wear?

From Aaron Kennard on Fri, Sep 30, 2011 at 12:29:55 from 98.245.117.176

i buy them on their website. I wear size 11 and they fit perfect. Same size I wear in other shoes, but the altras actually fit my wide foot. All other shoes 11 is the right length but I have never found another shoe that fits my forefoot and doesn't squish my toes together.

From Scott Ensign on Fri, Sep 30, 2011 at 12:32:49 from 129.123.3.31

thanks for info. I have wide feet too as you know so this looks like a great shoe. so the 11 should work for me too. once I burn out my current crop of shoes I will get a pair.

From Aaron Kennard on Fri, Sep 30, 2011 at 12:37:54 from 98.245.117.176

yeah, you may as well burn out the current crop first because once you get the altras you likely will not be able to compel yourself to run in the other shoes anymore and you'll just have to throw them away. I can't bring myself to run in any other shoes any more. Its a unique marketing strategy altras used, to make a shoe that 'actually fits' the foot in order to get people to keep buying more of them. What a novel idea. quite an innovative thought though ironically enough given the current shoe selection out there where almost none of the shoes that are made are shaped like a foot.

i may just have to get some now with this strong endorsement. I hope they stick with the same shoe width. Hopefully they won't fall into the "change the shoe model and fit every year" game the other shoe manufacturers play.

Ha - I can't tell you how happy I was to hear how much you love your Altras. Your comments here pretty much sum up how I feel - Jun and I chat them up so much sometimes I worry if people will really like them as much as I do, or just think we're crazy :). My Cascadias have turned into my casual hang out shoe, since I can't run in them anymore-they just don't compare! :)

Scott - I took a quick look at the Altra site, it looks like there are a couple of stores in the Logan area that might have them (Campsaver, Runner North) if you want to go try a pair on.

I'm on my second pair of Instincts as well, one month to the Lone Peak release!

And no, I don't work for them, but probably should. Ha ha.
