Personal:

I'm married to Nan Kennard and she kicks my butt at running.  She has beat me handily in every race we have done together except for a downhill mile we did once.  She is my running inspiration.  I'd like to run a marathon with her someday and actually keep up.

Well, the training is officially in the bank...not much more to it now than a couple taper weeks.

Today's run I was unsure how I'd feel, because I had kind of a big early week of solid workouts.  But I felt great and everything felt solid and enjoyable today, which was really pleasing.   The last mile or so I started to feel tired in a couple spots, but minus that it was a great feeling run.

18 Miles - 2:48:27 - 9:22 avg - HR 142 avg -  3150' vertical.

The route today was up McClintock to Mesa.  Across mesa all the way to the eldorado trailhead (about 6 miles), then back across mesa to Chataqua, then down baseline and across broadway to home.

It started snowing right when I started my run and it didn't ever stop.  By the time I came back across the mesa trail it was dumping and all the tracks were filled in.  The fresh, sticky snow provided great traction, and softer than normal surface the entire run, which was kind of nice.

Weekly summary: 61.5 miles - 9 hr 45 min. - 9500' vertical

Yeah, you are definitely ready. A good couple weeks of taper and you are going to kill it in Moab. I passed a few guys today who are running in it. You should beat them by a solid couple of hours.

Well, thanks for the confidence...but time will tell. I'm not too worried about killing anything...I'm just looking forward to the chance to see where I'm at for a 50K on fresh rested legs. After how tired I was today at only 18 miles, I just hope I feel a lot less tired than that 18 miles into the race. So I'll be trying my best to not go out too fast.

Solid run today. Funny our weeks have been very simalar latley, but this week was almost identical....well except the overall time of course, add about 2 hours to mine. You have been working hard, and its goning to pay off big in a couple of weeks. Save me some water at the aid stations, they have a reputation of running out when the slower guys come through, 'cause all you go fasties gulp it all down.
