I just noticed last week a small bulge in my lower leg while I was running.  I could see it, feel it, and unfortunately noticed a bluish-purplish tint below it which made me think I may be getting a varicose vein!  I'm going to be 31 one week from today (is that considered "you're getting older" or "oh, you're still young!"??), varicose veins run in distant family members (not Mom), and I only notice this bulge when I run.  When I'm at rest, I never see or feel it.  I'm also a smoker trying to quit Sad

I know running is supposed to help with this kind of thing- get my blood pumping and keep it from stagnantly sitting in my legs.  I run about 20 miles a week.  Does anyone else have a similar problem?  I'm wondering if it really is the beginning of varicose veins or possibly something else.

Thanks for any help you can offer!
