I run to and from work 4 days a week.  4.65 miles each way, during marathon training I add miles on the way home, plus I'm running weekends too.  Anyway, my question is stair running.  When I arrive at work I have the opportunity to run 15 floors.  I've thought about doing it for a long time but never did it.

About 5 weeks ago I did it for the first time.  Wow, this turned out to be incredibly difficult.  It takes me about 2 minutes and 10 seconds.  I am in an all out anaerobic state at the end, quads burning, heart blasting and barely standing.

So guess what, I love the torture, but is this going to make me a better runner?  I've been doing it once a week.  I will probably increase the frequency as I get stronger, unless what I am doing is foolish.  Please advise.

Shouldn't hurt.

Agree.  Nice anaerobic finish to a workout.

It could lead to some improvements in the form and increased general leg strength. But watch out - it is possible to overdo it. Pay attention to how it affects your runs and adjust accordingly.
