Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

This was a good run today, although it was HOT!  I drank almost all of my water.  I'll have to figure out how to carry enough water with me as the weekday runs get longer.  And, I have a new iPod!  And new shoes: Asics 2130.  Gee, I feel like a new woman.

Total time was 1:08:48, a 9:49 average.  The first three miles or so were around 10:00, I think, and then I sped up.

I made risotto last night, which is HUGE, because I am the most undomestic person ever.  It is delicious, although I had to stir constantly for an hour!  And, it is too rich to eat the evening before a run, FYI.

Hello New Woman! Great to feel like new with some new gear! Great run!

I must be even more undomestic than you since I don't even know what risotto is! If it is too rich, then I'm sure I would love it!

Good run today; it must be tough in the hot weather, but I'm sure running in that will just make you stronger. By the way, I am the most undomestic person ever!

Let's start an un-domestic contest! Maybe I'll post it on the discussion forum.

Kim, risotto is an Italian dish made with rice. It's much thicker than normal rice because it is cooked with a lot of chicken broth, and a little bit of half and half and white cooking wine. I put leeks, tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil in it too. You can put anything you want in it. My favorite risotto dish, on a special occasion, has lobster and truffle oil in it-YUM! I only know all this because my mother is married to an Italian guy who happens to be an amazing chef, and he cooks for us everytime we visit!

I'm getting hungry...

Oh...my...gosh. That risotto sounds SOO delicious.

Great job on your run! Geez, I don't read your blog for a week and you turn into superwoman.

BTW, I could whip you all at an undomestic contest. How's this: I NEVER iron. If I own clothes that wrinkle I get RID OF THEM! I only buy stuff that passes the crunch-in-my-hand-and-still-doesn't-wrinkle test.

From Kim on Mon, Jun 30, 2008 at 14:33:39

Lybi,

I'm still in with ya on the grand undomesticated prize! Non wrinkle free items are banned from my home! This morning on my run with Kellie she was talking to me about how she irons EVERY DAY! I ironed and did a few more things when I only had 2 kids, but that all changed as more came along.

Good job on your run, Shauna! I'm glad to see that I'm not the only undomesticated person on the blog. The only risotto I make, is the one that comes in a packaged box! The most I can do is boil a pot of water and throw it in and wait for 15 minutes :). It's still delicious, but not rich - I buy the 2% fat variety.
