I’ve been running for just over three years now and I love it! I hope to do it for the rest of my life. I appreciate a good dad joke and am a closet math nerd.

So it’s been a long time. I’m not very good at this but now that I’m graduated I’ll hopefully be better, haha. Anyways, track did not end how I wanted. I pulled my hamstring pretty bad during my mile and fell with 600 meters to go. I ended up developing a knot the size of my fist. It wasn’t good. I stretched and heated and iced it, doing everything I could to get better for day two. It ended up feeling better, but three laps into my warm up for my two mile, it came back and hurt. I dropped out because there was no way I could last 8 laps at a fast pace. I did run my 800 though. I didn’t hit a PR and my hamstring hurt a lot, but I was determined to finish at least one race before my high school career ended.

I took two weeks off to heal. When I started running again last Saturday, I fell. Again. I ended up banging my knee and spraining my foot, so I took off a few more days. I did run Wednesday and Thursday with no problem. I did the elliptical today, but plan on running tomorrow. I definitely need to get back in the groove again. It shouldn’t be too bad now that I can train for me instead of training to prepare for a racing season. It’ll be nice to just enjoy the process.

good to see you posting Rye bread

i think you’ll find like Kenny and I did that running can be a lot more fun when it’s on your own terms. it’s a lot easier and more fun when you determine when and what you want to race. coaching yourself is super fun too if you want to spend the time learning about the science of the sport.

Really short and easy today. I’m surviving off of 4.5-5ish hours of sleep. I had to get up early to train for my part time job, jerky delivering. Sounds weird and unexciting, but it’s easy and I get paid well.

Three miles at a good pace. Idk exactly what it was but I just kinda went with it. I felt really good and could have gone farther, but I’m trying to take it easy for right now. By next week I’ll start going harder again. Right now the goal is just to have fun and enjoy the process.

So I’m not very consistent, haha. But I’ve been doing a solid 3-5 miles everyday. There’s all kinds of pollen and other stuff in the air right now so it’s been a bit hard to breathe. I plan on being back to full mileage soon. I think finding a race to train for too will be nice, it finally hit me that I’m really not going to run with the XC team again. I’ll miss running with Rachel and the boys team, they were a party.

I’ve started lifting with my little brother. He wants to put on muscle so he can be fast for swim season and for next track season. He thinks he’s a sprinter (but really he needs to run the 800/1600).

Haha have no idea how long the run was because I didn’t have the watch but I was gone about 50 minutes according to my roommates and I was going at an easier pace. I estimate the run to be about six miles. Also got lost today so that was fun. Anyways, first solid run in a long time so today felt really good. It’s been an adjustment trying to balance college and running but I think I’m finally figuring it out. I’ve also had a gazillion midterms so there’s been no shortage of stress haha.

Nothing super hard today, I didn’t have a lot of time with homework and other obligations. However, my roommate decided she wants to start running so she ran the first mile with me. I think it may have killed her...  She said she really liked it and definitely wants to come again. I hope she does.

Stayed up late last night trying to finish some homework so I woke up later than usual today. I got in a quick five miles before General Conference. Sunday’s are honestly my favorite day to run because the streets aren’t too busy and everything is peaceful. It really helps to center me before church and before I face whatever else the day brings.

I’m starting to get used to the hills here. They’re way different from back home but the challenge has been nice.
