Got up at 5:15am, got to Midway about 20 minutes before race. Really liked the cooler temps and the overall course isnt bad, as the hills didnt seem very big. Its kind of rough pavement which seems to take more of a pounding. I tried to concentrate on form more than before and when I did I did better; but then my concentration would fade and get lazy and I would do worse. I did better gapping someone when I passed them but if they gapped me, Id let that disappoint me too much. I also think that I did OK as the day before I ran a 5K race and this also wasnt as downhill as Deseret 10K

I thought I did OK, ran consistent with the 1st and last miles being my best. Had painful problem with left hip, even had to stop a couple times and shake that foot out. It feels better now but it sure was painful after the race. Anyone have any ideas for before race or after race exercise/stretch to help it?

My 10 year old continued to do well beating 90% Id say of the adults. He got one of their trophy cups and was proud of that. It was his 3rd 10K and my 4th. Braden Emerson the 16 year and winner is becoming a great runner

Hi Michael- Thanks for your comments on my blog! Congrats to you on your recent races- you are really doing great and sounds like you have a nice medal from Friday's run. Great job! I lived in Heber a year ago so reading about Swiss Days really made me miss it!

Michael, Swiss Days is a tough race at altitude with all the hills. Congrads on your finish and consistency. 15 pounds does sound like alot to lose. Your don't look like in your picture that you have that much to lose. By the way, explain your hip problem. Maybe some of the bloggers can give you some ideas. Where is the pain, exactly? There is a great book called the "Sports Medicine Bible". I would recommend every runner have one.

The pain I have seems to be just below my left hip, like where my leg connects there. It doesnt seem to be like muscle pain, more like a bone or joint, (but Im not great on anatomy). I ran another 5K today and Im hobbling now. Maybe I need to slow down some for me. I plan on getting it checked by docter and then probably get referal for PT. Ill check out that book.

For weight Im around 190 now, but was up to 205 last year, I still go up sometimes to 195 if my sweet tooth is dominating. But I would like to get around and stay at 180 lbs which I think would be more healthy for me
