Ran probably my last 5K of the year and was pleased to get a PR for me of 25:11, so good way to end the running races as not sure there will be anymore Ill get in this year. I ran as a bandit so its not official time, but it was the time on my garmin. I stepped off to not cross finish line so I wouldnt mess up the placing. Not sure where I would have placed in my age or overall at this time. Garmin had it slightly short at 3.08 miles. Race was a out and back on city streets and paved trails. I dont care for out and back as much as a loop race

It looks like I got slower in the race by the mile, I was 7:44 for mile 1, 8:18 for mile 2, 8:35 for mile 3. Weather was great for a November race, around 50 degrees. My injuries seemed fairly good - left IT and right achilles did not bother me, although right IT bothered some and slowed me a little. I iced it down some when I got home. I had very stressful day before but thought I had slept OK. Attitude was so-so, I pushed myself some, was about 50/50 in the number I passed vs those who passed me. As I tired my attitude wasnt ideal and I let that slow me too much.

I know my age group was won my the speedster Brent Barney on the blog. Finally got to meet him and Slyvia briefly. He ran a good race and has always given me good encouragement. Last year I ran 26:25 so being a year older thats a good improvement. Looks like I would have been around 53rd of 246

Son won his age group at 20:11 and was about 10th overall. Have trouble convincing him to dress less warm - he being only 10 and thin tends to get cold easy before the race begins and being stubborn he doesnt listen to me that he will warm up once the race starts. He was disappointed that they didnt even give out ribbons for division winners so I stopped and bought him a blue ribbon. They didnt even give the overall winners a prize. I think the winner was a fast 15:02 - Josh Mcadams. The only prizes they gave out were a few prizes that had pre-drawn names. Didnt matter to me being a bandit, but my 10 year old was disappointed.  I know I know some dont like bandits but I dont care, I pay most of time but cant always pay for 2 so I just run for fun and try not to interfere

Nice job on the race and PR! Congrats to both you and your son.

Glad I didn't run that race today. Next time go to Tremonton for their Turkey Trot, I was amazed at what I got for a dollar. That ticks me off when races don't give awards and prizes, people should be rewarded for their efforts.

Nice PR, and everyone has run bandit before.

You rebel...

Way to PR! Great job Michael, Sorry that they were cheap-skates on the awards. You and your son are quite a team!

Congrats on the PR!!! Was this a PR for your son too? You sound like a great dad buying your son a ribbon afterwards & everything. Hopefully whoever put on the race today will get the hint and give out awards next year.
