5K at Thanksgiving Point. Starts out on roads and then runs through paths in the garden. It is scenic with flowers and water, but you dont have time to look. The path is often narrow and curvy, so it probably slows you down and is challenging to pass someone (not that I get to pass many). My foot got caught and I almost tripped where there were animal footprint casts made in the sidewalk.

Did OK, not as good as last year as Im still behind in getting in shape, but I improved 2 minutes from my earlier 5K this year. Got 2nd in my age group and 98th in race of 754. My GPS had it as 3.13 or 3.14 and my time as 20 seconds faster than the clock. I would say there were around 500 but dont know for sure and several of course were walkers. First mile was fastest and last mile slowest. Still bothered by hip pain although tolerable. Right plantar was OK. Had a little trouble breathing from allergies

They only gave medals to top 3 men and top 3 women. Age groups didnt get anything this year which was a little disappointing. They said they wanted to make race less competitive which sounds like a oxymoron to me. Arent races supposed to be competitive? They had oranges, rhoades rolls, ice cream and vitamin water for refreshments after the race. The race is not an expensive one to run.

Son finished 11th overall in around 21:30. When I asked, doesnt the fastest kid get something, they gave him a giant bag of gummy bears which he loves. I think the winner was a BYU track woman in a little less than 19 minutes.

I saw them hand the gummy bears to your son. I was sitting on the stage with my mom and daughter. Good for him and you. I saw the posted times today and mine said 30.31 but my garmin said 29.27. I think it may have also been that I did not start my garmin until I got out of the croud that was all around at the beginning. My allergies were killing me al through as well. I think I sneezed 50 times after the race ended.

Good job!

I wish I would have known there were fellow bloggers at this race. It would have been nice to meet you and Falcon! I have been looking for the official results and can't seem to find them. Where did you find them at? I'm glad Falcon got some gummy bears, he deserves them!

I saw the results at the race, they had them on the tables where you registered. Yeah - the allergies bothered me on the race, as I was breathing more heavily through my mouth as nose was congested. Hope to meet you at another race

Michael, nice race, keep improving. Hey, I had better start some heavy duty training if I plan on racing Falcon in a kids race. My only question, do you think the race organizers will know I am not a kid? Just act like one.

Maybe we will need to have our own race with gummy bears as the prize.

Hey, thats quite a son you have.

As I read more race results from this event the more challenging the course seems to be. Sorry to hear about the hip and other issues but they didn't slow you down terribly.

Will run for gummy bears!

Good job on the race! I have run this one in the past and really liked it. Too bad they didn't do age division awards this year- they should bring those back! Congrats to your speedy son too!

Great job on your race, Michael! I agree that you deserved something for your #2 placing.
