Ran in Mill Creek up Great Western Trail to Ridge overlooking Canyons ski area with my Golden Retriever. Saw some moose again. Running was good except in short rutted rocky sections, temps better than valley but still warm

It sounds great, runs like that are to remember.

Yeah I like the trail runs - scenery, wildlife, cooler and fresher air, getting to the top - my son did better on his hike with Boys Club on same day seeing 4 moose and even a rare sighting of a bear

Moose! Wow, I wish I lived closer to wildlife like that. The closest wild-life around here are my three sons (6,4,2). Any advice on raising boys? Here I am 6 years into it and I still have no clue what I am doing...

Im constantly surprized by the number of moose that I see in Utah - not something you would expect in a desert state. If you havent been there go up to Yellowstone, we like going up in the fall when the crowds are gone, the cooler temps and outside hunting have congregated the wildlife. Its a awesome time to see deer, elk, bison, bighorn, a grizzly bear if your lucky and even more. Your boys would have a fantastic memorable time. Weather is cool but its a great time, we are going back in October and maybe see if we can outrun a bison. When I lived in Arizona I saw alot of wildlife in places like the Superstitions, Aravaipa Canyon, Saguaro Monument, Grand Canyon but it usually menat being in the backcountry. The wildlife is a treasure - once they are gone, we are next.

For raising boys for the "sports" end of life; having fun and a sense of accomplishment, pride and confidence is most important. Soccer is a good starter for young boys, I know here they start playing soccer as young as 4 years. Many races will have a "fun" run for kids ranging from a 1/4 to 1/2 mile with the parents cheering. I also believe in a variety of sports at young age until high school when they can decide what they want to concentrate in. I know some only have their kids run or just do one other sport and Ive heard too many stories of kids burning out or quitting. I try to balance fun with the harder training or games and gradually increase the harder stuff as they get older, And most important is the love and praise and the encouragement in whatever they try and however well they run. Too may kids view running as not fun and return to the TV set and video games
