I finally beat Pachev!

Except it was Sasha's 6 year old daughter! My amazing speed of my 54 year old body held her off and beat her by 1 second. I dont think Ill be able to beat her next year

Last year I ran 29:10 and placed 3rd in my age group. This year I run 26:22 and didnt place - oh well - at least I improved

First mile of race is downhill, 2nd mile uphill and 3rd mile downhill

Alexander my 10 year old won his age group, wish I could pace him like some of the younger fathers do, but still he does well and tries hard

I even ran the mile back and slightly uphill to the car after the race - first time Ive done that

Cute! She's getting faster, it's true, but it looks like you are too! Great job.

Congratulations on beating Jenny and welcome to the blog. We are all excited to get to see you and your son Alexander here!! Good luck on beating Jenny in the future. She was really funny talking about her "competitor" that beat her this year..she actually thinks she remembers you from last year too.

Michael - good job holding off the little fire-breathing dragon! She was furious on the last mile, ran it in 7:41, passing people as if they were standing still. She ran 29:05 last year, so you guys would have been close. Good job making an almost 3 minute improvement in a year while being over 50. This shows you have some potential.

For your training plan to keep the dragon off your tail - make sure to run 6 days a week. Easy pace, does not matter how slow. Get in the distance. Looks like you should be able to handle 5 miles a day. If that starts adding up and being stressful on your body, make it 4 a day.
