Went up Mill Creek over to Big Cottonwood ridge, steep hike, ran lower part of trail

Ran again at Dimple Dell Indoor Track, ran three 1 miles each seperated by 0.2 miles walking. First nmile I got my best at 7:51, 2nd was 8:14 and 3rd was 8:24.

I have read different conflicting things in Runners World the last few months on running the 5K - one says run your first mile fastest, another says save your fastest to the last mile and another says to try to be consistent. I suppose its what works for you. What do others on the blog try to do/why?

Thanks for the comments. San Fran is a great city to run, it was nice and cool with a little fog on the bridge. I feel pretty good about the race overall, it is a really fun event. I don't think I have met you, where are you racing next?

Ive seen you a couple times talking to Bill Cobler and other Wasatch Athletics runners.

Im a slower older guy mainly running for health to keep up with my fast 10 year old.

Ran the Sandy Midnight 5K last night. Not sure what will do next weekend, the 2 weekends after that we are up in Washington State seeing family and planning to run in a couple 5K up there. Have signed up for Alta Peruvian too

I think if you have bad form, you should definitely start out hard in a 5 K, fairly close to the mile race pace. A guy with good form sometimes runs better with an even or negative split.
