Ran Dimple Dell Park this morning with Denali Golden Retriever. Trail is getting too sandy from horse use, need some moisture or freezing to hardened it off. I run too slow in sand. Some of it is in wood chips though which are easier. Lesson learned - if you run down a sand hill you may have to run back up it

Kept seeing scrub blue jay birds - they always seem to be screeching at me probably saying something like "get moving faster chubby". They have nice blue color. Also I see alot of magpies with their neat black and white pattern - their call is like a laugh and seem to be saying "You call that running thats a laugh". What do birds know anyway. Unless you can fly like my son (Falcon). I guess it could be worse - Alfred Hitchcocks movie "The Birds" - that could make me run faster.

Nice views of the mountains and approaching storm.

Nice, descriptive run today, a day of watching nature instead of our watch, is often the best day of running. The race yesterday was real disappointing for the young runners, you son, and others. I don't know the lesson learned from yesterday, except, your personal reward will always be your effort put into the race, regarless of place, trophy or pats on the back. You can run you best race ever and your only reward may be your own effort. I have had many races like this over the years. But, I always enjoy seeing the awards given out and the pleasure on the faces.
