Had PT, he agrees with Sports specialists that it is IT band. Used foam roller at PT and it hurt like heck. Foam roller also arrived that I ordered. Stopped at Wasatch Running and got new shoes - that are bigger and provide better support

Michael, ice with a dixie cup, 3 times a day. Did they show you some stretches? You have the right attitude.

Funny thing, I have had problems with the IT band before and it started in my hip and then down to the knees, I don't think the hip pain that I'm having is a problem with it, but I do have a foam roller that I use a couple of days a week and I think that it helped a lot in preventing further problems. It really hurts at first but as it loosens up it actually feels pretty good! I hope it helps. Did P.T. recommend anything else?

Hi Michelle - I think a combo of things is starting to help me - ibuprofren, ice, the PT and exercises there, more stretches, allowing recovery time, new better more comfortable shoes with good cushioning and stability. I dont have pain all the way to the knee, mine is upper just below hip. Also taking more care of my right achilles may be helping as I read that pain on one side can cause you to use the other leg more or incorrecly. The foam roller hurts like heck but as you said slowly it is getting better.
