Rod Dixon has, for whatever reason, taken interest in our little town.  He's run in our road race a couple of times and has begun a KidsMarathon program at our elementary school.  Four of my daughters have been inspired to run races due to his recent speaking engagement at their school.  He shook each of their hands.  Tomorrow night he'll be making an appearance at our community track.  Originally he was coming in hopes of setting a new world record for the mile within his age division.  Unfortunately he's nursing an injuring, yet still's coming out to encourage those in our community who will be competing in a 1-mile run.  Maybe I shouldn't be bragging, since I'm wimping out on running tomorrow.  Instead, I'll be cheering on my girls (I want to get faster before competing...they'll have another 1-mile race night in August).

Ok, since we are talking about him, I'll brag as well. I beat him in a 5 K by over 2 minutes in Salt Lake two years ago. Granted as old and injured as he is he could only run 18 minutes.
