Ragnar Job Opportunity - Race Director

The MyoMed Ragnar Relay Series, the nation's largest overnight relay series,
seeks a full time Race Director. The ideal candidate is someone that is passionate
about life, running and sports in general and possesses the following characteristics:
impeccable attention to detail and organization, strong communication skills, customer
service expertise and the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects. This person
must also be able to work in a team environment and have a general knowledge of
athletic events.

If hired, you will be responsible for managing race logistics for current and future
races. You will work out of our offices in Bountiful, Utah, but you will be expected
to travel to race locations to manage the event while it is going on. We currently
own and manage races in Arizona, Utah, Washington, Minnesota, Washington D.C., Texas
and Florida. We have plans to add more races over the next few years.

This position will demand a considerable amount of travel, including some travel
over weekends and possibly holidays.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):
•Course Management - Work to oversee all course related logistics. Prepare plans
covering all phases of each race. Work with team members to create and manage event
timelines.
•Volunteer & SWAT Team Management/Training - Coordinate and implement plans
to ensure maximum number of volunteers for each event.   Keep all online information
for volunteers up-to-date.  Train and recruit SWAT team members.
•Event Logistics - oversee inventorying and ordering of event materials, ensure
delivery and placement of owned/rented equipment.    Order materials from outside
vendors and act as point-of-contact to ensure delivery and proper placement.  Develop
event day delivery schedules and execution plans and ensure information is provided
to entire team prior to event.
•Keep Ragnar website updated with all pertinent race information and make sure any
arising online issues are taken care of in a timely manner. Manage online registration
and assist teams in the registration process.
•Maintain ongoing communication with participants and volunteers.
•Work weekends and long hours the week of races.
•Some heavy lifting will be required.
 
Candidates Must Be:
•Energetic, organized, creative and enjoy organizing large-scale events.
•Able to follow budgets and provide detailed reports.
•Willing to travel and work various weekends and long hours.
•Strong in communicative skill and work as a team player.
•Detail oriented; have the ability to effectively manage multiple projects and work
under tight deadlines.
•Proficient in Outlook, Excel and Word
•Runners and should compete in races regularly.

One of you Norther Utah bloggers should jump on this. I guess they may not pay that much or maybe they do. You never know.

Last time this position was announced, the advertised pay range was between $40K and $80K.
