I have had a stress fracture in the lower leg for about a year now without any success of recovery.  The doctor is wanting to put a rod down the middle of the tibia to help reinforce the bone.  Has anyone ever heard of doing this for a stress fracture?  Will it really help heal the leg?  I've pretty much tried everything else to heal but nothing has seemed to work.
