Notification of updated favorite blogs

This may have been suggested before (so my apologies if that is that case). There may even be a way of doing this I don't know?

I was just thinking about how we have a favorite blogs section on each of our blogs page, currently, if we want to check out what that person has been up to recently we have to go to our blog page then click on their page and see if it is updated. I think it would be really useful if there was some way for us to be told if one of our favorite bloggers has updated their page. Off the top of my head I can think of two ways of doing it, the first is an email notification with the new blog entry (basically the same as what happens if someone comments on our own blog page). Another was would be an extra page with a list of all our favorite blogs and the last time they were updated?
