Incorrect Mileage with Course Tool

The Course Tool looks really cool. I toyed around with it, but I couldn't get it to do what I wanted on a course near my home. Here are the steps I follow to reproduce the error.

• In Start Location, enter 9400 S 1300 E Sandy, UT
• Zoom in one level
• Set the first point on the map at 8600 S 1300 E
• Set the second point on the map at 9400 S 1300 E

There is a distance of one mile between these two points, but on the left side it shows it as 1334383.59 miles. I'm guessing it's going around the world a few times and then coming back to get that many miles. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong?

I don't think you're going around the world.  The elevation of your start point is 4668'.  Reasonable.  The elevation of your second point is 7045550022'.  That sounds a tad on the high side to me, unless the worlds largest volcano just erupted there a produced a mountain the size of 15 Jupiters....that's quite the hill training.

The elevation is getting fed from an external web source, so I'm not sure there's much Sasha can do for this, but I'll let him speak for himself.  Try putting your second point on the south edge of the road.....the elevation error appears to be limited to the north side of the E 9400 S road and up a bit on the S 1300 E road.  You should be able to avoid the elevation error.

Wow, and I thought my hill repeats were hard!

No kidding.  I thought 6-10% grade repeats were tough enough, but 133438447%?  That's crazy.  You'd wear out several shoes before getting one repeat in.
