I know this was touched on in an earlier topic,  but I wanted more opinions.

Does anyone still do the traditional carbo loading with 3 days of depletion (high protien/fat, low carbs), then 3 days of high carb.

I did this in the 90's, but didn't in my last two marathons.

I am thinking that maybe the traditional way is better. I don't know if the science is legitimate, but it seems possible that the body might actually react to depletion by storing more carbohydrate reserves.

Katie Danner did it a while ago (early summer? spring?) before a marathon and liked it.  Try reading her blog for details.

I use to do this but ended up getting sick every time I did it.  I think it puts a toll on your immune system as well as other important system needing to be regular before a marathon. Wink
