we can keep threads for different injuries.  I am feeling a slight pain and want to post about it but am not sure where to do it.

Wherever you post it, just don't make up a new body part in your description.  None of this posterial tibular fentinionton ischam gland or anything like that.

...so just out curiosity, what do you call things when you are at work, Mr. Rocket Scientist? Do you just call everything a widget, and make fun of people who use the real engineering terms?

No, no, we have a very wide range of terms.  Widget, thingamajig, whatzit, doodad, gizmo, etc.  Very technical.

Good point, though.  I'll be quiet now.
