Title: Ears Popping
Post by: seesuerun on February 20, 2009, 06:57:43 am
My ears used to pop really bad when I would run. It would drive me crazy. It hasn't happened now for a long time. Does anyone know anything about this? or had it happen to them?

Not in this planet Sue.

Ears popping is mainly caused by atmosphere pressure change.

It will happen very often if you change altitude (up or down) in a fast way (plane, car, even running).

I have not had it as much lately with consistent mileage, but my ears used to constantly feel like they needed to pop before I was running. It was very annoying and I thought I should go see an ear doctor but never did. Oh well...

For what it's worth.  Sometimes my ears build up pressure at the end of long runs and races.  I believe it has something to do with sloppy breathing technique due to fatigue.

My left ear right now is full of pressure, but for a different reason - ear infection. Although unrelated, this leads me to wonder if you might have some kind of a minor inner ear abnormality. If it does not happen anymore, protect your earns well, and do not worry about it.
