Title: A place to stay in St. George
Post by: Kory Wheatley on September 05, 2008, 01:15:19 pm
I found out that I still have a spot to get in St. George.  Does anyone have room for me to stay at for Friday and Saturday night.  I'm riding up with a couple of guys from Pocatello that are doing the Marathon.

I forgot to mention it would only be me that would need a place.  Probably just one night.

I'll need a place as well. Kory - I can drive you from Provo and back to Provo so you'll save on gas as long as you do not mind leaving right after the awards and listening to General Conference on the drive back.

None of the Arizona radio stations broadcast General Conference.  I tried to find one when I did Man Against Horse last year.

I wish I had a place to share.  I'm still working on finding one too.  I just backed into SGM through the Grand Slam.

I still have a Travelodge reservation available - we are no longer in need of it, as we are going to be staying with bloggers, but if anyone would like it, they are welcome to it.  The rate was 109.99 for a single king bed, no smoking, and it was just for the one night.  I will be cancelling this reservation fairly soon if no one else wants it.  Contact me directly if you are interested - james dot winzenz at cox dot net (to prevent any spam harvesters from grabbing my email addy).

Sasha that would be great.  I don't mind leaving right after, and listening to the General Conference is not an issue either.  In fact I might learn something.  I wanted to get back Saturday so I can be at church on Sunday so I wasn't looking on staying two nights.

James - does this have a shuttle to the bus start or is it in walking distance.

I don't believe it has a shuttle (not sure), but it should be close - it is just off St. George Blvd.  The bus boarding zone is at 400 E/200 S, and the Travelodge is at 175 N. 1000 E.  Here is a map of the location:

http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Travelodge+St.+George,+St.+George,+UT&sll=37.59206,-113.69857&sspn=0.049239,0.087204&ie=UTF8&ll=37.111051,-113.562112&spn=0.006194,0.0109&t=h&z=17

That's 6 blocks east of the bus zone and about 3 blocks north.  We could probably even come pick you up on our way to the bus zone.  You are under no obligation to take this - I am just offering it if you (or someone else) is not able to find another blogger to stay with.

Bad news - Lybi just told me that our hosts had had to cancel on us, so it looks like we are actually going to have to use this room for ourselves.  You may want to check the Coronada Inn and Suites - we have stayed there several times, and it is a bit closer - looks like they may still have rooms available - same price (110/night for a single king bed with separate living area).

No problem James I think Sasha found us a place.

Excellent, glad to hear it!  I was feeling a bit bad since I had offered the room and then had to take it back after Lybi broke the news to me.

Jame W.  no need to feel bad.  I shouldn't have to ask others to be responsible for my lodging.  I originally wasn't going to run St. George because I wasn't pick in the lottery, but I called one of their staff a couple weeks ago and they graciously let me in.

I have two rooms available at the Abbey Inn in St. George for Friday and Saturday nights.  They do have a shuttle to the buses, and they have a breakfast for runners.  They require a 2 night stay that weekend.  Please contact me for the rest of the info.  I have passed the cancellation date, so I have to sell these rooms myself.  Thanks.  Dan C
