Title: New Runner
Post by: Gokay Yamankurt on May 14, 2008, 08:11:58 am
Hello FRB community;

I am a 20 year old male. I just started running after 5 years of no significant exercise. Right now, I am running 1.5 miles continuously in 19:30 and I wanna build up to running 20 miles continuously and running 6 miles in 36 minutes.

I welcome any feedback and comments.

Thanks.

Gokay

EDIT: By the way, I quit smoking a week or two ago because it didn't help a whole lot with the running :)

Keep doing what you are doing 6 days a week gradually increasing the mileage as you feel ready. Overtime your endurance will improve. Feel free to post any time you have a question or concern.

Congrats on quitting smoking- combined with running, you should notice a good increase in how you feel.  And you can spend your smoking money on running gear!

One time I helped a guy improve from barely being able to run a 16:00 mile to running 2 miles at 9:00 pace in about 4 months. Quitting smoking was a very important part of the puzzle.
