Title: Frank Horwill on YouTube
Post by: Maria Imas on February 25, 2008, 11:01:48 am
Hi everyone,

just wanted to share an interesting clip that I saw courtesy of my London running club. Someone taped training weekend with Frank Horwill, a legendary UK running coach. He must be 85 or older now, but is still active and highly respected in Britain. I know that Peter Coe borrowed his multi-pace training theory for Sebastian Coe way back when. Some of his ideas are a little... unorthodox, but take what you want from them. Here is the link:

If anyone has any ideas why these runners are walking up the hill backwards, please let me know. I'm lost as to the value of this exercise. Enjoy - it's a pretty cool video!

I read an article just this week that talked about trail runnes walking backwards uphill to strengthen their quads to better deal with downhill pounding.  Don't know if that is why these runners are doing that, but it is an idea.
