Title: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Jake Krong on July 29, 2011, 11:20:56 am I want to start a thread for weekend long runs meetups. Andrea and I are trying to do as many of these runs on softer surfaces (and higher elevation is a bonus) as possible.
Tomorrow (July 30th) we'll be at the Jeremy Ranch road ( http://goo.gl/VCnWe (http://goo.gl/VCnWe) ) at 8am. Andrea is running 14, I'll probably do 20. Pace will probably be 7:15-7:30. Anyone is welcome to join in, just let us know. Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Bill Cobler on July 29, 2011, 12:20:16 pm Will join up with you in the upcoming weekends for some good runs. This weekend (July 30) we have a group doing long runs out on the Magna road. Getting some folks ready for some of the fall marathons. We will start out there 6:30 am. Some are carpooling from the Shopko parking lot in Sugar House at 6 am. Anyone wanting up to 20 can join us. Many are going at least 16.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Jake Krong on August 04, 2011, 03:31:16 pm The plan for this weekend is another run on Jeremy Ranch road on Sunday morning. We'll probably start ~8:30am, but that time is negotiable. I think Andrea is planning to do ~15; I'll probably tack on a few more.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: MarkP_ on August 04, 2011, 09:59:25 pm There is a large group of us meeting on Saturday at the Big Cottonwood Canyon parking lot (5:30 AM) to carpool up to Brighton. We will do several intervals around the Brighton loop (0.75 miles), before running back down the Canyon. The goal is 18-20 miles with van support. The group is mainly 2:45-3:20 marathoners (mixed), so the pace me be slow for you guys. I hope to make some of the posted Sunday runs.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Steve P on August 05, 2011, 12:12:41 am That sounds like a great group to run with. I can't make it this time, but I would love to do it another time. Please let us know if you do any more runs like that on Saturdays.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Bill Cobler on August 13, 2011, 10:37:41 pm Rail Trail Prospector to Wanship 8-14, Should be a nice long run on soft surface. Want to get going early before the heat, anyone one needing a long run, pick the time.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Kam on August 15, 2011, 06:52:01 pm I'm going 9 miles up and back on Skyline Drive from the B in Bountiful this Saturday, with a 6 or 6:30 am start. Uphill miles will be around 9 min, coming down closer to 7. Company would be great, pace and time negotiable.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Jake Krong on August 15, 2011, 07:55:46 pm I'm camping up in the Uintas this weekend, and then have TOU, so no long runs the next 2 weekends for me. But starting in September it will be back to pretty much every weekend all fall, so I'll try to get this more organized.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: allie on August 20, 2011, 11:15:40 pm this is still a couple of weeks out, but i am looking for someone to run long with on september 2nd or 3rd. the planned run is 22 miles around 7:15-7:30 pace, with the last 3-4 miles at 6:20 pace. i have considered driving to logan to do this run on the TOU course, and i would definitely make the trip if there is anyone in the area who is interested. otherwise, i could meet up pretty much anywhere within the salt lake valley or even utah county.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Steve P on August 20, 2011, 11:47:48 pm I will most likely be available to do it if you run in Utah County or SL County. Hopefully I have enough in the tank at the end to run 6:20 pace.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Jake Krong on August 21, 2011, 11:54:40 am Hey allie - Andrea and I are staying in a cabin near Snowbasin / Eden that weekend... if you want to do a long run w/ us that Saturday (maybe on the Ogden marathon course, around the reservoir, etc), come on up! We could even setup a point to point run or something like that. I don't hammer long runs so that pace sounds perfect to me! :)
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on August 21, 2011, 11:57:34 am Although Allie is very special, anyone else is welcome to join us as well up there! We would love the company.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Jake Krong on August 31, 2011, 10:45:38 am If anyone is interested, we're planning to do an easy 20 miler around Pineview Reservoir this Saturday (9/3). We'll be hitting the trails up in the Snowbasin area on Sunday/Monday as well.
I'm thinking we'll probably start ~8am on Saturday, but nothing is set in stone. It all depends on what works for other people. We are flexible and don't have much else to do. Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on September 08, 2011, 09:28:05 am Jake and I are doing another Jeremy Ranch Road run this Saturday at 8am. I'm planning to run 17-18 and Jake 21-22, probably in the 7:30 range. We will probably go out for a buffet breakfast afterwards. Let one of us know if you want to join!
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Rachelle on September 09, 2011, 12:55:44 pm Can I skip the running and just come for the buffet breakfast? ha ha jk but that does sound pretty enticing. Have fun!
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Kurt Stevens on September 13, 2011, 03:25:33 pm Saturday The 17th I will be running the last 22 miles of the South Jordan Marathon course early in the morning. My plan is to start dropping waters by 6 and be running by 6:30 am. I would like to keep it at about 6:40-6:50 pace, but most of it is down hill. Any takers?
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on October 10, 2011, 03:23:35 pm Saturday 10/15 Jake and I are going to do a LONG LONG run (at least for me). I want to run for 2:46, more as a mental confidence booster that I can run for that long (OTQ cutoff time) than anything else. It's not going to be very fast (7:30s) and 22-23 miles max. We were thinking of a the Rail Trail in Park City for softer surfaces but would be open to other ideas if others wanted to join.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on October 20, 2011, 11:47:17 am 10/22 Morning long run at Jordan River Parkway, start at 3300S. Pace will be something like...
Andrea and Emily 7:15-7:30 for 15 miles, then marathon tempo for 5 miles at 6:20 pace Jake 7:15-7:30 for 10 miles, progression to marathon tempo for 5 miles at 5:20 pace. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=5144967 The run is just an out-and-back, so if anyone wants to join (even if just for a bit) they can turnaround at any point. Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Chad Robinson on October 20, 2011, 12:47:27 pm What time? I think I am in for 14 miles.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on October 20, 2011, 03:17:12 pm 8am start!
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: James Moore on October 20, 2011, 05:17:13 pm I am in, can I get a ride though? I live at 430E 800S.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on October 21, 2011, 09:31:12 am James - We could arrange that.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on October 26, 2011, 04:29:01 pm 10/29 Long Run 8am. Jordan River Parkway, probably the same run as last week (start at 3300S) unless someone has a better idea. Pace is casual, 7:15-7:30 pace. Fast last mile, but not required :) Join for a however much you want to run. We can head north for about 4 miles then head south, so there's an 8 mile option or can turnaround any point after that. We had a great group last week and hoping for the same this week.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Andrea North on November 30, 2011, 10:42:13 am Not sure if this qualifies as a long run, but would anyone be interested in meeting up for a Saturday morning run? Maybe 10-12 miles at 8 min/mile pace (I don't think I can run much faster than that yet!).
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: MarkP_ on December 01, 2011, 12:01:47 am There is a group of us meeting at 7 AM on Saturday at the Capitol (North parking lot close to City Creek exit) for a run to Hogle Zoo and back. Total distance of 12-15 miles.
Title: Re: Weekend Long Runs Post by: Kam on December 06, 2011, 10:11:14 am I'm planning a 12 miler Saturday on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail between North Bountiful and Farmington, start at 8:00 a.m. The road/trail is bone dry.
