Title: Mesquite Marathon ... Who "owns" the race? Post by: Gary Culver on May 13, 2011, 02:54:33 pm This could get messy... There are currently two organizations planning to conduct a "Mesquite Marathon" on Nov 19, 2011.
Mammoth Marathons (2009 & 2010 Organizers) version of the story: http://www.mammothmarathons.org/m/m.html - Black Gaming has chosen to take a race that wasn't theirs...and hire a new race director. They are wanting Mammoth Marathons who originally started this race to step aside while they take control of it. Mammoth Marathons was not employed by Black Gaming they were our host hotel. Mammoth Marathons is going to continue to run this race. Planet Ultra version of the story: http://mesquitemarathon.com/wordpress/ - CasaBlanca (which owns the race) replaced Mammoth Marathons with Planet Ultra as race manager P.S. Planet Ultra / Black Gaming is also planning to conduct the Valley of Fire Marathon on Nov 20th. I have not inqured if previous year organizers are in agreement with that takeover.. However, it should be noted that the second link features a nice shot of our very own Scott Ensign blowing past some other runners.
