Title: Cross Training - Running Equiv Calculations?
Post by: Becky1 on April 14, 2011, 08:16:31 pm
Due to a number of factors, I need to cross train but would also like to track my cross training "running equivalent" miles.  Pfitz talks abut this, but I can't find the metrics.  Like, how much cycling or elliptical training do I need to do to equal 1 mile?

Thanks!

Becky, I used to cross-train based on time (e.g., on days I would run an hour I would cross-train for an hour).  On my "longer days", I would cross-train for 2 to 2.5 hours.  I think that it depends on the type of cross-training you do how much equals a mile of running, I have heard for cycling that it is 4-5 miles for 1 mile of running, but I really think it depends on the type of cycling (e.g., on the roads with wind, hills, etc and how fast).

Good luck, I hope you get back to running soon.
