Title: Inspirational father/son triathletes
Post by: Aimee on September 28, 2009, 09:44:44 pm
We watched a great little DVD tonight, shared with us by a biker/triathlete friend. It tells the story of a father who competes in triathalons with his disabled son. Growing up, we had a family friend who reminded me a great deal of the young man in this video. Anyway, it's on youtube, here is the link, along with two others that give a little more insight. Touching and inspirational!

These guys are pretty inspiring.  I remember passing them in Boston and giving Dick a pat on the back.  One thing that was interesting was to read and hear the mother's side of the story.  She never gets mentioned and has had some valid concerns about her son's safety while competing in these different events.

It would be interesting to hear her side of the story. Being a mother, I can understand having concerns about safety. One of the lessons I took from their story is that as parents, we lead, push, pull, and sometimes carry our children in hopes that we can help them reach their potential and find joy in life. The sacrifices we make as we do this are definitely worth it!
