Title: Advice for qualifying for Boston
Post by: cindy stage on March 03, 2014, 10:36:54 am
I need advice for getting faster marathon times. I am trying to qualify for Boston. I missed the cut by 6 seconds in 2012 (for 2013). I always seem to run out of steam the last few miles. I tried again in Alabama  Dec. of 2013, but I slipped on a road reflector and sprained ankle. I finished with a 4:08. A very good time considering the damage I did to my ankle. My qualifying time is 3:55, but I want to train for a 3:45 to make sure I get in. I am consulting the Hanson Marathon Book and plan on following the plan. Has anyone had any luck with that plan?

I know several folks who have used the Hansons Training and had good success with it.  Two folks on the blog right now are using it (at least that I personally know).  I would advocate some runs longer than were they stop to help with the fade at the tail end of your previous efforts.

Good luck.
