Author Topic: Run the 1/2 or 20 miler?  (Read 2923 times)

 The Trails 1/2 marathon and 20 miler is on sept 6.  Would it be better to run the half and run some extra miles after or run the 20 miler? Which would be better for my SG marathon training?

I think doing a race in the middle of a 20 miler is the best marathon workout you can possibley get.  Just do the half at marathon pace with a good warmup and cooldown and you will get an awsome marathon pace training run.

Just so long you can get in 4 other true 20 milers without much starting and stopping on other days, I would say do the 1/2 on that weekend.

Thanks Michelle and Josse,
I have been leaning towards the half so thats what I will do. I think I will push myself more in the half because there will be more competition in it than the 20 miler .
Michelle getting in 4 20's with not much stopping or starting will be no problem!
