Anything that prevents dorsoflexion of the foot will certainly help.  A friend of mine swearss by this product.  I solved my 13 month long bout with a boot, orthotics and most impotantly taping my foot before any run.  No barefoot anything will also help.  My PF disappeared two days after starting taping my foot.  I still tape it during long runs to help prevent reoccurance.

I tried that once - it did not work at all for me, and I ended up returning it.  I swear by a product called the "Strassburg Sock".  A couple years back, I had a pretty bad case of PF, and it worked wonders for me.  I keep one handy so that if I ever start to feel any soreness in my PF, I put it on overnight for a while, and the soreness goes away.  Check it out - http://www.thesock.com/ (http://www.thesock.com/).  Also available from Steve at the St. George Running Center - FRB members get a 15% discount.
