Title: Hot race days Post by: Rick on May 19, 2010, 06:40:37 am If the weather forecast for a marathon is predicting unusually hot and humid conditions, do you all typically bail on the race and reschedule for a later one, or do you just tough it out, and take a poor time as "experience"? Just curious
Title: Re: Hot race days Post by: Paul Petersen on May 19, 2010, 09:16:39 am Depends on your goal. If you accept beforehand that your time will be poor, and plan on hydrating frequently, walking through aid stations, and generally taking your time, I think you can still have a pretty good experience. But if you absolutely "must" hit some sort of time standard in order for the race to be a "success", then you may want to reschedule.
And of course, weather forecasts are often wrong, especially this time of year. |
