Michelle Lowry (
http://michellel.fastrunningblog.com/) beat a good number of pre-race favorites and invited runners in the DesNews 10 K placing 8th with the time of 35:02. She gave Carre Joyce (a 2:43 marathoner, 42nd place in the trials this year) and Zuzana Thomas (2:39 marathoner, running in the 08 Olympics for Slovakia) a good scare finishing only 4 seconds behind Carre and only 22 seconds behind Zuzana.
It is worth mentioning that while Michelle's performance was at least comparable in quality to her collegiate track 10,000 of 35:43 she did it after giving birth to 3 children. How did she do it? The answer, of course, is in her blog. Pay particular attention to the title:

Those who follow the same motto are likely to experience a similar degree of success.
