So, registration for the Boston Marathon opens next week.  Any thoughts as to how that will go?

I ran a 3:06:47, which puts me in the second "wave" of registrants.  My registration time opens on Wednesday, September 14th.  As this is the second set of possible registrants, what are the chances of getting in (providing I do all the right things - get online immediately, etc.)?

I know that there is no clear answer, just wondering what the feelings are for the upcoming registration periods.  Will it close after the 1st set?  Etc.

I don't think that you will have any problems registering.  My guess is that everybody qualified for the first 3 rounds of pre-registration will get in.  I get to register Monday and am really hoping that I don't forget.

The sense I'm getting is that everyone BQ-5 and faster will get in, and probably quite a few in the group slower than BQ-5. I hope so, because TOU is the day that BQ-5 registration ends, and that's what I'm shooting for -- BQ-5.

My gut says you'll be fine.  Although I don't have the data to prove it, my belief is that a majority of the runners who run each year would not qualify for the first two waves (they did not qualify with 10minutes to spare).

I am kind of in the same boat.  I am 45 seconds off of the 10 minute wave so I'll have to wait until the 5 minute opens.  My gut is telling me it will be full before I am able to register but I guess only time will tell.
