I ran this yesterday and was speaking to a former elite runner in his hi-50's.  He said to check out the results page (New Haven Road Race/20k results)- it was the best field for American women he's ever witnessed.  His guestimate was that 30 of the overall top 100 were women.  Also impressive was an 81-year-old who completed the 20k in under an 8:30 pace.

I take it Nan is on our blog?  If so, congrats!

Third place again, this time at the USATF half marathon championships.  Link with the press conference for the top three women is here:

I'm predicting it now... 3rd place at the Olympic Trials marathon, then 3rd place at the Olympics!

Lol. I was just thinking during my run this morning, "I bet Nan got 3rd". Which is amazing, but also funny.

..

From the letsrun.com front page:
Mother of three, Nan Kennard, who trains with Colleen De Reuck was a surprise third.

Well, none of us are surprised!

Thanks for the link Jeff.  She's so humble.  And grateful to her coaches the De Reuck's.  Pretty soon she'll be grateful to her sponsor Mizuno.  But don't you think she could show the blog a little more love at her press conferences?  Wink
