I think it will be broken someday. But I think the article takes a lot for granted. I hope it is closer to the 12 yr than the 25 yr prediction but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't in my lifetime. Namely the curves assume a decrease in the time of either ~20 or 10 sec per year. The problem with that is we have been ~3yr with no improvement. So even with the optimistic improvement of the 1960s trends of 20 sec per year we would now need at least a minute improvement one of the next 7 yr to catch up... I hope this is the case and that I am at the finish line to witness but...
