Provo Freedom Festival Run

Anyone planning on running the 5k or the 10k on Monday? I'm trying to get a sense of what the competition. I'd love there to be a huge pack of guys to run with.

I am running, but I am not a guy, and I won't be running your pace  .  I don't know if you noticed, but they have posted on their website those who have registered so far.

There would probably be three collegiate guys in the race that would give you trouble. One of them might be untouchable with the probability of 25% but he will run tactically, so you can have contact with him in the first 5 K. The other two you can beat, but you would have to work. I have not looked at the start list, so I do not know who they are, but statistically this is what has happened over the last 5 years.

The course is accurate and fairly slow. If you break 32:00, it would be very good.

I'll be running the 10K but not in your league. Last year's winner was Kyle Perry, NCAA steeplechase champion who ran 31:30 or so.

So what do they do with the prize money since they can't give it collegiate athletes?

I believe Perry had graduated by the time he ran, so he was OK to take the money. But I believe collegiate athletes have to just pass the money on to the next finishers.
