One month from yesterday, on July 1, a fundraiser run across the state of Alabama will begin, and two of the three running the entire distance are on the blog (schotz and jelmo), and I, along with a few others, will be running the last two days of the four day trek.  The purpose of the run is to raise money and awareness for Tay Sachs disease, with which Eric Schotz's son was diagnosed several months ago.  The website for the run is:  http://www.runacrossalabama.com/

Check it out....

The RAA starts tomorrow, so if you get the chance, say a prayer for the three guys running the whole thing (Eric Schotz, Jon Elmore, and Eric Charette) and for Elliott Schotz, the child with Tay Sachs disease and in honor of whom we are all running.

Also, if you get the chance, wish them luck on their blogs:

PS: If you are so led, we are still taking donations for the National Tay Sachs and Allied Diseases Association (NTSAD), which can be made by going to the event's website:

For anyone interested, the Run Across Alabama for Elliott went incredibly well.  Eric Schotz (Elliott's father) and Jon Elmore, both from the blog at schotz.fastrunningblog.com and jelmo.fastrunningblog.com, toughed it out and had great runs.  They both had their own bits of adversity at some point on the run and pushed through for solid finishes.  It was a very touching moment at the AL-MS state line with the entire Schotz family, including the man of the hour, Elliott, to cheer his dad on in.  Props to both of them, and may they both have a speedy recovery.

For what it's worth, a decent synopsis of what went on can be found on the website and through the twitter link therein:
